European Castle Wedding in Slovakia
THREE DAYS, TWO CASTLES, SIXTY MUSICIANS

I’m Peter Kiral, founder of Kiral Artists. My wife Arianna is a wedding planner and designer. Music is my world. Event design is hers. We help couples bring their visions to life. This time, we did it for ourselves. This is our wedding…

When it came to our own wedding, we had one rule: If we were going to do this, we were going to do it fully. You might think we are crazy. We are not. We simply do not believe in ordinary.
Over three days.
Across two castles in Slovakia.
With over sixty musicians and performers.
And 145 guests from fifteen countries who traveled to celebrate love with us.

Our Love Story
I met Arianna in December of 2019 at a luxury wedding summit in Cancún. She sat next to me during a networking dinner. She had presence. Not loud. Not trying. Just grounded and powerful. A few weeks later, I called her and asked what she was doing for New Year’s Eve. She said she would be in Madrid. Madrid had been on my bucket list for years… So I bought a plane ticket, and showed up there on December 30th.

I had clients’ meetings scheduled in Tuscany in January, so Spain became a small detour. Arianna joined me for a couple of days in Florence. Two months later, after I returned from another wedding summit in Dubai, the world shut down. COVID began. Flights were canceled. We were suddenly locked down together in Miami. In the second half of 2019, I was so booked up with my destination wedding performances that I lived out of my suitcase, staying in hotels and friends’ homes across the US. I did not have my own place.
We fell in love, and exactly two years after we met, I proposed at a Christmas market in Madrid. A year and a half later, we stood in a forest in Slovakia, ready to promise love to each other forever…

Why Slovakia, Not Tuscany

Originally, we planned to get married in Italy at the beginning of July. We visited Tuscany, toured venues, imagined golden sunsets, and long dinners under olive trees. But something felt forced.
Capacity limitations. Weather concerns. Logistical compromises that did not match the scale we envisioned.
The universe was redirecting us.
Slovakia is my home country. It also happens to have the highest number of castles per capita in the world!!!
Our venue locations
Our wedding day took place at Červený Kameň Castle, a centuries-old medieval castle rising above the Carpathian landscape, its stone walls and vast courtyards carrying the weight of history and grandeur.

The welcome party was hosted the day before at Palace Art Hotel in Pezinok, a boutique hotel set within a beautifully restored 13th-century castle that once served as a water chateau and noble seat for magnates, blending centuries of history with modern luxury.
We created a name for each day’s event. Arianna also created a Pinterest moodboard for our guests to know what to wear. Btw, wearing sneakers was mandatory… keep reading, and you’ll find out why…
Day One — Welcome to King’s Landing
Arrival in Bratislava & evening gathering in a wine bar…

Thursday was intimate. We welcomed our international guests in downtown Bratislava with a relaxed cocktail evening at a wine bar. A vocal-guitar duo performed love songs and pop covers while friends from across continents finally met one another.
No heavy production. Just a laidback gathering with stunning views of the Danube River and the St Martin’s Cathedral.
When 145 people travel for you, the first hug matters more than the stage design.

The decor was simple, we printed our photos and hung them on the wall and placed them on a table:

Day Two — Slovak Folk Wedding Traditions
Hearts, Folk Music & Reggaeton…and our Castle No 1.

The Friday welcome party was about different cultures and the cultures of our guests. We wanted to celebrate Slovak folk traditions, Arianna’s Venezuelan and Spanish heritage, and everyone who was there.
We both love fashion. The inspiration was bold — Dolce & Gabbana. Rich textures. Baroque drama. Mediterranean passion layered with Central European history.

We transformed the courtyard of the hotel into a living marketplace, inspired by European Christmas markets. Slovak traditional food was served: sausages, cheeses, sweets, spirits, and wines…
Folk musicians, Traditional folk dancers, Flamenco energy, Reggaeton rhythms.
…and I can’t forget to mention that we also gave our guests welcome bags. Thoughtfully put together for each of our guests with details such as plum spirit made out of plums from my mom’s garden and a rose wine from our friend’s private winery in Limbach… and of course Cocosette, a popular Venezuelan snack made of crispy wafer cookies filled with coconut cream and coated in chocolate.

Our welcome party included different wedding folk traditions and games to keep our guests entertained: plate breaking, the hat game, and polka dance. Arianna surprised me and, with her girlfriends, danced Sevillanas for me. It was so beautiful!
At midnight, we honored the Slovak ritual of Čepčenie. Čepčenie is a traditional Slovak wedding ritual that symbolizes the bride’s transition from an unmarried woman to a married woman. During the ceremony, her bridal wreath is removed and replaced with a head covering, marking the beginning of her new role in marriage and adulthood. This is a MUST-WATCH video. It was so emotional.
The evening ended around 2 am, with an afterparty in our presidential suite with our friends.
Day three: Breakfast with the Queen & Two Kingdoms Collide

Saturday began at 9 AM with my dear wife and me waking our guests up by knocking on their hotel room doors and handing them our printed Newspaper… and with our semi-naked videographer, Lubor. They were very happy about that… (video)
Meanwhile, the hotel’s golden ballroom transformed into Arianna’s lifelong dream — a full-scale hair atelier. Fifty ladies had their makeup done. The wedding dress was displayed in the center of the room.
I can’t believe that we turned the hotel’s golden ballroom into a get-ready room. What is usually the room where the main events take place became, of course, the setting for the ladies; their dresses, their makeup… What a great idea of my dear wife, making every little moment a grand celebration…
Our fashion designers
As fashion is always a must for us, we took great care in choosing our designers who created the beautiful outfits for us. Arianna’s dress with the hearts for the Friday welcome party was made by Slovak designer Boris Hanečka. My white suit with the hearts, the wedding tuxedo, and the golden Filipino jacket were made by Slovak tailor Maximilian Mucska. My bronze wedding shoes were made by Marek Pažitný. Arianna wore a wedding dress by Viktor & Rolf and a tiara by Keren Wolf. On Friday, a tiara by Dolce & Gabbana. Thursday dress by Zimmerman and my white suit by Hugo Boss.
The Ceremony
After our guests and I got dropped off by the buses, we had to walk through a large grass lawn on the castle’s premises towards the chapel, and they finally understood why we required our guests to wear sneakers and not high heels… Guests first gathered near the small chapel on the castle grounds. What many did not realize was that it was the historic Pálffy family chapel.
Creating the perfect music entertainment for the wedding ceremony was the most challenging part of the whole wedding music for me. I had many different ideas…this is what I created…The ceremony itself had sixteen musicians, including a viola da gamba player, a Rociero choir, and a Mariachi band.
When guests arrived, a viola da gamba player from Hungary was performing music from the 17th century in front of the chapel.
Many guests assumed the ceremony would take place inside the chapel. That was the illusion. We brought them deeper into the forest.
If I had only one wedding dream, it would be this: to be married in the middle of a forest…
Silence as Music
There was no prelude music. I wanted our guests to hear the wind, the forest, and the birds singing…
For Arianna’s entrance, a live flamenco choir began to sing. Then she appeared…on a donkey…
After the vows, a Mariachi band performed “Hasta Mi Final”. Arianna dedicated this song to me…
As we walked back down the aisle, the Mariachis performed our favorite song “Si Nos Dejan”.
Once the ceremony was over, our guests could take a five-minute walk or take a cool bus ride to our wedding castle…
Cocktail Hour
Cocktail hour unfolded in the courtyard of Červený Kameň Castle. What I wanted was to continue with a period music of 18th century. A tafelmusik orchestra was performing music of Mozart, Charpentier, and Pachelbel — strings, winds, and timpani echoing against medieval walls.
We dances our first dance song in the courtyard of our wedding castle – full 4.5-minute choreographed dance to “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston.
The Reception — Underground
Our guests expected a ballroom. A ceremonial trumpet fanfare echoed through the courtyard, formally announcing the end of cocktail hour and signaling the transition to the reception. As the final notes resonated against the castle walls, guests began making their way toward the medieval cellars — among the largest in Central Europe!

A harp player serenaded them as they descended the stairs at the mezzanine.
Inside, the Kiral Artists 16-piece pop string orchestra welcomed guests with “Bittersweet Symphony.”

All 145 guests sat at one continuous long table, covered with a custom-made bohemian blue tablecloth crafted in a single piece! (another of my wife’s perfect details).
Dinner was designed with precision, inspired by formal American, Russian, French, and family-style service.
The Luis Miguel Surprise
Arianna and I have always loved Luis Miguel’s music. I arranged a surprise performance for her. No one expected this performance during our dinner. I curated all three songs precisely. I just love pop-up performances…they always bring a new energy and joy… Our singer traveled all the way from Spain to sing for us…
Within minutes, people were dancing between courses. Some of our friends thought that was it, and this was the main wedding entertainment and the main party room. They were incorrect…
From House Music Classics to Sunrise
The dinner finished around 10:30 PM…the atmosphere changed again. My favorite all-female hybrid DJ group from London, with DJ Oscar Leal from Miami, started their sets. The setlist was well curated and tailored to us. We love house music and house classics; we both grew up in European clubs surrounded by the best DJs and refined electronic music…
I canceled the cake cutting…I wanted to keep partying… we cut the cake at breakfast instead…Did I mention we also had a heart-shaped art installation made from 18 violins above the dance floor? Now it’s hanging in our living room in Miami…
At midnight, Hora Loca brought performers, costumes, and surprising moments… who wants to guess what the theme was?
The afterparty moved into the torch room at 2:30 AM… Deep house music carried us until 5 AM with DJ Tager.
Why a European Castle Wedding Is Unlike Anything Else
When American couples imagine a European castle wedding, they often picture Ireland, Tuscany, Provence, or Germany. But some of the most breathtaking medieval castle wedding venues in Europe are tucked away in Central Europe — offering grandeur, privacy, and authenticity without compromise.
Slovakia, Austria, and the Czech Republic are home to extraordinary castles surrounded by forests, mountains, and centuries of layered history. Many of these venues feel untouched, cinematic, and immersive in a way that larger, more commercial destinations sometimes cannot offer…and they are more affordable. The cons are that you have to deal with many different, unknown cultures. You just need to be patient. I have to say, once all the vendors understood our vision and what we wanted from them, they were so great to work with.
For American couples planning a destination castle wedding in Europe, the goal is not just location — it is experience.
Our celebration in Slovakia was proof that a medieval castle wedding in Europe does not need to follow the predictable path to Italy to be extraordinary.
If you are exploring castle wedding venues in Italy, Austria, the Czech Republic, or elsewhere in Europe, consider choosing a setting that feels personal rather than expected. The right castle does not just host a wedding. It transforms it.
If you are dreaming of a wedding that feels intentional, layered, musically curated, and entirely your own, we would be honored to help you create it ;)
