Wedding Ceremony at Palmetto Bluff
I first met Neillie Butler in Charleston, SC during Charleston Wedding Week, and later again at Engage! in Canada. Neillie is the founder of Mariée Ami, a luxury wedding planning firm based in Alabama, known for creating beautifully timeless celebrations across the South and beyond. We’ve had the pleasure of collaborating on several weddings together — one in North Carolina, and another in Bluffton, South Carolina, at the breathtaking Palmetto Bluff.
If you’re in the wedding world, you’ve likely heard of this iconic Lowcountry wedding venue near Hilton Head and Savannah, GA — a true dream setting for a destination wedding. Along with Spring Island and Kiawah Island, Palmetto Bluff is one of the most sought-after wedding destinations in the Southeast.
For this Palmetto Bluff wedding ceremony, I worked with Neillie to curate the ceremony musicians, featuring four harpists and a string quartet. It was such a unique and elegant request. Honestly, I had never encountered a harp quartet before, and I was excited to bring this vision to life. The bride chose Charles Widor’s “Toccata” as her recessional piece, beautifully arranged by Steven Seigart.
It turns out harp quartets truly do exist — and they have their own beautiful repertoire. While string quartets for weddings are a classic choice, the harp quartet brought an entirely new level of romance, texture, and sophistication to the ceremony. The sound was absolutely ethereal, perfect for a refined Southern wedding surrounded by nature and charm.
